The unvarnished kitchen cabinets might seem more rustic, but these are not a good variant if you are planning on placing hot pots on them. Instead, opt for a transparent varnish on a honey wood or beige cream cabinet, but make sure it is resistant to high temperatures. It should also be safe to get wet. There is a wide range of thermally fused melamine rustic kitchen cabinets, with concealed hinges and solid face frames, which are really safe options.
Some of these rustic kitchen cabinets have wrought iron handles and drawer pulls. Wrought iron is a versatile and natural material, so maintaining it is low maintenance. Don't worry if other metal elements found in your kitchen tend to rust (like pots, cups and even better, tea-pots), as the rusted metal is one of rustic style's most valuable characteristic, especially when thinking about the old European decor and today's most precious antiques.
A great thing about these rustic kitchen cabinets is the fact that whenever you might become bored of their appearance, or they tend to get a little shabby, the remodeling options are very creative and unlimited, as opposed to the elegant and finished ones that don't accept handmade improvements. You can paint the rustic kitchen cabinets, using white pigmented shellac or water-based primer, gloss and semi-gloss enamel and different sized brushes, but also any other accessories that you like, like little stones, shells, stars or wooden geometrical shapes. Before starting to paint, don't forget to remove all the cabin’s accessories and make sure there is enough ventilation in the kitchen.
